RAYMOND D. MARTIN

Raymond Delano Martin, 86, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, November 26, 1932, in Neosho, Missouri, the son of Cleveland H. and Sarah A. (Burdick) Martin.  He departed this life peacefully, on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Addington Place in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Ray attended Neosho High School but left early to join the Air Force and proudly served our country through both the Korean and Vietnam Wars; retiring from the Air Force in 1970. 

Following his service to our country he became a security guard at the Federal Reserve Bankof Kansas City retiring in 1994.He was an expert marksman.

On February 23, 1979, he was united in marriage to Roberta (George) Patterson in Miami, Oklahoma.

Raymond enjoyed photography, both still and video, music, trains, and was a WWII history buff.  He was a kidder and ornery as the day is long.  He attended the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church and recently made his peace with God.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; 2 half-brother’s, Cecil, and Paul; 1 half-sister, Augusta; 7 brothers, Robert, James, Lewis “Toots”, Thomas “Tom”, Jerry, Donald “Dick”, and Wayne; and three sisters, Betty, Bessie, and Dorothy. 

He is survived by his wife Roberta of Addington Place; his step-son Bruce A. (and Dawnn) Patterson of Lee’s Summit; his step-daughter, Julia Patterson-Johnson of Pleasant Hill; 3 grandchildren, Dr. Zachary A. (and Melissa) Patterson of Pleasant Hill; Sarah R. (and Brady) Lundeen of Topeka, Kansas, and Chase B. Johnson of Pleasant Hill; 4 great grandchildren, Aliceyn M. Patterson, Benson A. Patterson, Cade D. Patterson, and Elijah J. Lundeen; a sister Mary Sherman of San Antonio, Texas; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the funeral home. 

Graveside services with full military funeral honors by the United States Air Force were held Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Reverend D. Kent Deubner l officiated.  Casket bearers were Zachary Patterson, Bruce Patterson,Chase Johnson, Julia Johnson, Brady Lundeen, Melissa Patterson, Benson Patterson, and Brandon Hooser

Memorial contributions are suggested to Meals on Wheels, Pleasant Hill, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
