JAMES A. SPIES

James Albert Spies, 86, of Strasburg, Missouri, was born, April 20, 1932, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Jacob J. and Anna C. (Brungardt) Spies.  He departed this life, Friday, October 19, 2018, at his home.

Jim was a United States Army and Naval Reserve veteran.

James is survived by his son, Richard Rickleman of Florissant, Missouri; step-daughter, Lisa Bowen of Lee’s Summit, Missouri;  4 brothers, Clarence “Chuck” Spies of Seattle, Washington, Wilfred “Will” (and Opal) Spies of Parkville, Missouri, J. Robert (and Marilyn) Spies of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Jerald (and Barbara) Spies of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Mary Sheehan of Denver, Colorado, Elenora “Ellie” Ruby of, Missouri; Mildred “Millie” Spies of Pensacola, Florida; several grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Spies.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the funeral Home.  Interment was in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Paola, Kansas.

Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Little Sisters of the Poor and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
